Making the Rounds

  • Stripe to offer credit services to businesses. The fintech giant’s newest program will let companies white label Stripe services to offer loans, charge cards, and more to their customers.

  • Meta threatens to pull news from its apps in California. A proposed bill in California would force Meta to pay a tax for linking to news content. The company responded by threatening to remove news content from Facebook and Instagram altogether in the state, as it did in response to a similar law in Australia in 2021.

  • ChatGPT conversations are now shareable. The new feature will make sharing prompts much easier.

  • Open letter warns of extinction threat due to AI. The one-sentence open letter was signed by 350 industry leaders, including executives at OpenAI and professors at Stanford, MIT, and UC Berkeley.

  • The Great Resignation comes to an end. New data from the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey reveal the U.S. quits rate has returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Working With Clients

3 Keys to 5-Star Client Onboarding

Closing deals is one thing.

Fulfilling on your promise to deliver a 5-star service is another.

And a 5-star client experience starts with onboarding.

In fact, it might be the most high-stakes aspect of client work

Because if you fumble it, buyer’s remorse will set in almost immediately

Leaving the client wondering whether they’ve made a huge mistake in hiring you

Or even try to back out of the agreement.

To avoid that unpleasant fate

Here are 3 keys to delivering a 5-star onboarding experience:

KEY #1: Background Info

This means getting the client to fill out any questionnaires or other research documents you need to start the project.

KEY #2: Account Access

This means getting access to assets, shared folders, software tools, ad accounts, etc.

KEY #3: Review Timeline & Next Steps

Once you’ve got everything you need from them, it’s critical to review the timeline you’ve agreed upon and lay out the next steps (for both you and them).

Remember: client work is all about managing expectations.

And nailing the onboarding process ensures you start things off on the right foot.

Working For Yourself

Protect Your Eyesight With the 20-20-20 Rule

Fun fact:

Did you know your eyes are an extension of your brain?

Well, it’s true.

And while we’re on the topic of your eyes, it may also shock you to learn that staring into the abyss a screen all day isn’t good for them.

Eye strain, mental fatigue, and dry eyes are just a few of the potential consequences you have to look forward to.

So
 how do you protect them?

Blue-light glasses are one approach — and one we certainly endorse.

But another no-cost way to preserve your peepers is the 20-20-20 rule:

Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

This gives your eyes a timeout from the pixelated onslaught they’re normally subjected to

Which has been proven to help reduce eye strain and mental fatigue.

So if you’re looking to take preventative action before your eyes become a problem

Then give this new rule a try.

Tool of the Week

Fireflies: The ultimate AI assistant for meetings & client calls

Fireflies records your meetings, creates a searchable text transcript, and generates a concise meeting summary for anyone who wasn’t there.

No more taking notes or flipping through recordings to find when something was said.

We’ve also found it to be much more accurate than Otter dot ai (a similar competitor).

It’s been a huge-time saver for us.

Plus clients love it because you can share the link to the recording with them too.
