Making the Rounds

  • TL;DR: LinkedIn is adding new features to Sales Navigator and Recruiter that use AI to identify intent signals like website visits, hires and fires, new connections, and more, to help you prioritize your outreach and prospecting.

  • Why it matters: Many freelancers and service providers are worried about being replaced by AI. But there’s a flipside where AI actually makes it easier to find and land clients.

  • TL;DR: Outbound links posted on X to certain sites, including Threads, NYT, Reuters, and Substack, were found to have a 5-second delay before loading.

  • Why it matters: X used to be a great place for freelancers to establish their social media presence and find clients. But with reach dwindling and features changing constantly, some of us have left for greener pastures on LinkedIn and elsewhere. Regardless, if you’re going to play in Elon’s sandbox, you’re best to avoid linking out to any of his competitors or anyone he’s feuding with.

  • TL;DR: Google’s new AI search tool SGE will soon include AI-generated summaries of webpage content.

  • Why it matters: One of the biggest concerns with using ChatGPT for any kind of research is reliability. It can’t really cite sources or tell you where it got its information. But this update from Google will make it easier to accelerate the research process by getting AI-generated summaries of live web pages as your browse.

Working With Clients

How to Win Repeat Client Business Without Being Pushy

The easiest deals to close are with existing clients.

Why?

Because they already know, like, and trust you.

And if you’re looking for a simple way to win repeat business without being pushy…

Send out a short summary after you finish every project.

This should include:

  • The goal

  • Quick breakdown of the work you did

  • Results (was the goal met? why or why not?)

  • Potential next steps

Not only does this demonstrate accountability…

But it also kickstarts the conversation about next steps and makes it easy for the client to say ‘yes.’

Working For Yourself

Don’t Wait Till the End of the Day to Work On Your Side Hustle

Ever heard of the concept of “pay yourself first?”

This advice usually applies to money…

But it can (and should) also apply to your time.

If you’re working on a side hustle, don’t leave it till the end of your day…

Because you’ll often be too tired or stressed out to put in quality time on it.

Instead, spend the first hour of your day working for yourself.

Whether that’s…

→ Growing your audience on social media

→ Building a digital product

→ Or learning new skills

Not only will that investment compound over time…

But putting yourself first is a subconscious signal that will give you a greater feeling of control over your business and your life.
